A note sent on Facebook after holding 4 weeks of Lenten Faith Sharing Activities

Advent 2018 Creole p
Enjoyed the past 4 weeks of Advent reflections. It started with one person’s interest, Father Mark willing to support faith sharing ideas and a team that showed interest and the rest is a beautiful, prayerful four Sundays of learning, reflecting on the Gospel and Advent related traditions and history.

We also learned about the Jewish feast of Hanukkah which celebrates the rededication of the Temple by King Judas Macabeeas circa 164 B.C. Chanukah is also the Feast of the Tabernacles or the Festival of Lights when the Jewish tradition remembers the miracle of one day supply of oil that burned for eight days in the Temple.

Nice Advent study ,reflection, and faith sharing session. It was prayerfully
amazing as Catholics to actually read from the Bible! Since the Church is reading
mostly the Marcan Gospel during this liturgical year B, we had to read Chapters
1to 4 for homework.
As a group “sample” exercise, we read Mark 1:1-20 and selected various names
that Jesus is called such as ‘Son of God’, “Jesus Christ’ , ‘Lord’, ‘Beloved’, Son”,
‘the One’. For this week’s homework, we are reading Mark, chapters 5 and 6. You
are invited to the fourth reflection session this Sunday after the 5:30 mass.
Organized and led by N. Lamour
